The order announces that Simón de Herrera, governor of Nuevo León and commandant of the Louisiana frontier, has agreed to withdraw beyond the Sabine River and congratulates the troops on their conduct (WA MSS S-1136). The letter by General Wilkinson to Henry Dearborn, Secretary of War, reports his arrangements for taking over the Louisiana Territory (WA MSS S-1137).
